CONCIENCIACIÓN ECOLÓGICA

En los últimos años se ha producido una gran concienciación a nivel mundial sobre la protección y el cuidado de la naturaleza, y se celebran encuentros y conferencias en busca de posibles soluciones colectivas a los problemas ambientales. Cuando se planteó por primera vez el problema de la degradación del medio ambiente, se propusieron dos posibles alternativas para solucionarlo: la «preservación de la naturaleza» a ultranza, propuesta por John Muir, y la conservación haciendo hincapié en los valores de uso que ofrece la naturaleza, propuesta por Gifford Pinchot. Desde las últimas décadas del siglo XX, nuestro planeta se ha considerado como un gigantesco ecosistema en el que los problemas ambientales, independientemente del lugar donde se produzcan, nos afectan directa o indirectamente a todos.
